lately i have been searching for a larger sense of inspiration in the little moments of daily life. i am building monomo, a knitwear brand. and the fun thing about starting this from scratch is that every experience teaches me something. i am in the part of the process where the main objective is to experiment and learn, and it has been such a joy so far.
however, the past few weeks, i have found myself struggling to define a sense of purpose, and am coming to the conclusion that what makes me feel the most inspired is the idea that i can create pieces that become a part of your memories.
after all, clothing, and the tactility that comes with it, plays a large role in how we shape our days, our rituals, and remember the most meaningful moments.
some time ago i saw a quote somewhere, “how we spend our days is how we spend our lives.” ever since, i find it circling around my thoughts. for myself and the way that my days are structured, it is the simple rituals that prevent the days from blurring together in the summer heat; the slow morning coffee, the time spent sitting outside with nothing but a book and a pen to mark passages, a walk at dusk when new york starts to cool down.
this idea matters because rituals are important grounding techniques. they provide a tangible experience that allows us to be present in the moment, to focus on what is before us, and to remember that the smallest moments end up meaning the most.
i’m sure it is a widely shared experience to link what you wear to your memories. my favorite treasures include a silk top gifted to me by my mom, a delicate necklace that was my grandma’s, and my most worn in vintage tee. all are tied to those i love and i get to think of them every time i get dressed.

and when you allow things to carry meaning, it imbues moments with meaning too. as i sit with what inspires me, i can’t help but return to the rituals of my own, and how what i wear becomes part of the fabric of my life.
so the next time you are getting dressed, pause to actually feel your clothes and how they wear. allow yourself to feel good in these pieces, and have some fun with it. because it will become a part of your lived history.
this summer i am calling upon the simple pleasures of life to carry us through a more lighthearted summer. i am understanding that keeping my world bathed in soft textures and colors is a reminder of why i love to create in the first place, that designing intentional pieces is what fulfills me.
